After years of fermentation, three once separate parts of Andrea's life, macro-photography, quilting, and botany; now come together in her textile art.  Once a traditional flat quilter her work now rises from the surface to taunt the viewer to reach out and touch.  Aspects of the natural world few stop to see, with intense dives into nature from a bee’s eye view or with a more botanical perspective.

In using all materials; recycled designer samples, wire, glass, canvas, traditional quilting fabrics and liberal use of thread Andrea brings texture to her work. They are machine quilted, machine applique, machine thread painted, hand-constructed. The wall pieces are stretched on canvas to stabilize the weight of the sculptural elements which are stuffed and wired to create the desired shapes.

Almost everyone has some familiarity with bed quilts, maybe even art quilts but few have seen quilts transformed into finer art. They think of quilts as flat surfaces on a bed. Andrea is on a mission to teach quilters, artists and all that quilts are art and are more than a cover to sleep under.
